Billboard Declares Burna Boy as No. 1 Afrobeats Artist, Surpassing Wizkid and Davido

Renowned Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has clinched the top spot on the Billboard Year-End U.S. Afrobeats Artists Chart, cementing his Grammy-winning status.

The second position on the chart has been secured by the sensational ‘Calm Down’ maestro, Rema, while Tems, Cameroonian songstress Libianca, and the iconic Wizkid have been placed third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.

Completing the top 10 are Ayra Starr, CKay, Asake, Davido, and Oxlade, as unveiled in the latest release on Tuesday by Billboard via their official website.

Furthermore, Rema’s remix of ‘Calm Down’ featuring Selena Gomez has soared to the top of the Billboard Year-End U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, with Libianca’s ‘People’ and Tems’ ‘Free Mind’ securing the second and third spots, respectively.

Noteworthy mentions include Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ featuring Tems and Justin Bieber, and Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’, which have both earned positions in the top 5.

It is also remarkable that Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ claimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s 2023 Pop Airplay & Rhythmic Airplay year-end chart, and achieved a commendable No. 6 ranking on the Hot 100 Year End 2023 chart.
