Enyimba Triumphs Over Bendel Insurance to End Barren Run

Enyimba has broken their unlucky streak against Bendel Insurance, defeating the Benin Arsenals with a score of 2-1 in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League matchday one contest in Aba.

The last time the NPFL titleholders emerged victorious over Monday Odigie’s side was back in February 2008, with a 3-1 win.

The game took an intense turn when Joseph Atule scored the first goal for the hosts in the 70th minute, only for Ismael Seriki to promptly equalize for Bendel Insurance five minutes later.

It wasn’t until the 80th minute that the powerful forward Chijioke Mbaoma scored the winning goal for Enyimba, finally breaking their curse.

Following this crucial win, Enyimba has leaped from 16th to eighth position on the table, now amassing 13 points from eight games under the leadership of Finidi George.

Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance remains in sixth place with 19 points from nine games, still posing a tough challenge for their opponents.
