IPOB Calls for Support as Lagos Demolishes Properties Belonging to Igbos

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have called on the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Southeast governors, and National Assembly members to back the move for the actualization of Biafra, following the demolition of building structures belonging to Igbos in Lagos.

Emma Powerful, the spokesman for IPOB, expressed condemnation for the demolition, stating that it signifies the diminishing regard for Igbos in Nigeria and the need for their independence.

In a statement, Powerful condemned the inaction of Igbo leaders and their apparent complicity in the economic sabotage against Ndigbo by the Lagos State government, emphasizing the need for a united front to defend against such actions.

He further urged Igbo politicians, governors, senators, representatives, Ohaneze Ndigbo leaders, traditional rulers, businessmen, and religious leaders to convene and strategize on securing Igbo investments in Lagos State.

Highlighting the escalating tensions, Powerful made reference to the historical context of the Biafran secessionist movement, lamenting the systemic targeting of Ndigbo.

He also called on the international community, including the UN, AU, and ECOWAS, to intervene and advocate for a peaceful separation of Biafra from Nigeria through a UN-supervised referendum to prevent a resurgence of civil unrest.
