Abba Moro Expresses Concern Over Inconsistent Election Petition Judgements

In a recent address at the Expanded Stakeholders Meeting of Benue State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Makurdi, Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro voiced his apprehension regarding the perplexing and inconclusive judgements arising from the judiciary on election petitions.

Moro, in a sobering tone, cautioned against the gradual erosion of the country’s adherence to the rule of law and the potential descent into a “state of nature,” particularly highlighting the tumultuous judgements on election petitions.

Against the backdrop of the prevailing challenges of insecurity and a faltering economy, including the plummeting value of the Naira, Moro lamented that Nigerians are grappling with some of the most arduous times.

As the leader of the opposition political factions in the Senate, Moro affirmed his commitment to spearhead efforts to restore order and stability.

Adding his perspective, Sir John Ngbede, the Benue State Chairman of PDP, urged the party’s numerous members and supporters to maintain their faith and unwavering dedication. He emphasized that the PDP continues to be the preferred party for the people of Benue, citing its unparalleled track record of credible governance and cooperative engagement with the populace since 1999.

Sir Ngbede, who served as the deputy governorship candidate for Benue PDP in 2023, expressed his unwavering determination to administer the affairs of the party with utmost diligence, governed by a deep sense of duty and responsibility towards the citizens, with the intent of holding the current government accountable.

Meanwhile, the Benue State gubernatorial candidate for PDP, Engr. Titus Uba, rallied the party’s faithful to maintain optimism regarding the possibility of justice prevailing in his petition at the Supreme Court. In this legal challenge, he contests the Court of Appeal’s ruling affirming the election of Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Expressing gratitude to the party leadership and its supporters for their unwavering backing throughout the legal battle, Uba conveyed his appreciation for their solidarity.
