I have lost complete hope in Nigerian judiciary — Melaye

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the November 11 election in Kogi State, Dino Melaye, says he has lost confidence in the Nigerian judiciary’s ability to abdicate justice on the outcome of the polls.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Melaye came third in the election that produced Usman Ododo of the APC as the winner after scoring 446,237 votes.

The candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Muritala Ajaka, came second.

But both Messers Melaye and Ajaka rejected the results, alleging rigging by the APC.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, Mr Melaye alleged that the Nigerian judiciary is no longer the last hope of the ordinary people, but a department in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Mr Melaye asked why any responsible person would go to the tribunal when the APC had captured the judiciary.

“Judiciary is no longer the last hope of the ordinary people; it is now a department under the All Progressives Congress.

“Why should any responsible person go to the tribunal when the APC has captured the judiciary?

“I have lost complete confidence in the judiciary,” Mr Melaye said.
