The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has urged traditional rulers to bolster community policing efforts for improved internal security in the state.
During his visit to the Emir of Minna, HRH Alh. Dr. Umar Farouk Bahago in the state capital, CP Danmamman emphasized the pivotal role of traditional institutions in collaborating with security agencies, particularly the Police.
“The Command seeks to harness the Emir’s influence, authority, and the respect accorded to his office to aid in policing the people,” said the CP.
Highlighting the evolving nature of crime, CP Danmamman stressed the need for collective commitment from both state and non-state actors to safeguard the state.
As the leading internal security agency, the Commissioner underscored the Police’s reliance on support, partnership, and cooperation to effectively ensure internal security.
Furthermore, Danmamman reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to combating crime, upholding the constitution, serving the nation, and respecting traditional and cultural values to foster a safer community.
In response, the Emir of Minna, Alh. Farouk Bahago pledged his unwavering support and utmost cooperation. He lauded past Commissioners of Police in the State for their harmonious relationships and assured continuity of the same.
