Abia PDP Responds to Otti’s Victory: Exploring the Way Forward

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has issued a response following the Appeal Court’s decision to uphold Alex Otti’s victory as the duly elected Governor of Abia State. In the wake of this development, Okey Ahiwe, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, urged his supporters to maintain calm in the midst of what he characterized as an “eclipse of transitional sunset.”

In a statement signed by Abraham Amah, the Vice Chairman and acting Publicity Secretary of PDP in Abia, the party indicated that it was convening with its candidate and his running mate to scrutinize the judgment and devise the next course of action. While reaffirming its faith in the judiciary as the last recourse for the common citizen and an integral pillar of our democracy, the PDP appealed for serenity among its members and supporters in light of the electoral setback.

“We implore members of the PDP, our numerous supporters, sympathizers, and the esteemed populace of Abia State to maintain resolute, tranquility, adherence to the law, and repose our optimism and reliance in God and the judiciary as we contemplate the avenues accessible to us,” the statement elucidated.

The PDP, highlighting the purported hardships endured by the people of the state under Alex Otti’s administration, underscored its commitment to standing by them, affirming that it would not forsake them.
