The beloved Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, has recently undergone another leg amputation and is now facing difficulties in speaking, prompting an urgent call for prayers and support from the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

Dr. Emeka Rollas, the National President of the AGN, shared this distressing update with journalists, expressing deep concern for Mr. Ibu’s deteriorating health. Additionally, he highlighted the concerning condition of another veteran actor, Amaechi Muonagor, who has been hospitalized at the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi, Anambra State for over two months.

Describing the situation, Dr. Rollas remarked, “The actor’s state of health is pitiable, as he is currently a shadow of his old self.”

Mr. Ibu’s family recently revealed that the actor had undergone multiple surgeries, culminating in the amputation of one of his legs. Moreover, there are plans to transport him abroad for further medical care.

Providing an update on the situation, the AGN president expressed, “We are resigning to fate concerning the two actors. As I speak with you, Mr. Ibu hardly talks again and he has undergone another leg amputation.”

Dr. Rollas also shed light on the dire condition of Amaechi Muonagor, stating, “You will shed tears if you see Amaechi Muonagor now, his legs are completely paralyzed. I’m calling on all fans and well-wishers of the actor to join hands with other philanthropic Nigerians to support him in this dire time.”

In a proactive effort to extend assistance, Dr. Rollas disclosed that he had authorized the disbursement of N250,000 from the AGN Trust Fund to the ailing actor’s account, acknowledging that more support is urgently needed. Furthermore, he urged young actors to consider enrolling in the AGN’s healthcare and insurance programs.

The plight of these esteemed actors underscores the fragility of life and the challenges faced by veterans in the Nigerian entertainment industry. As the world rallies to navigate these challenging times, the call for support resounds across borders, reminding us of the power of compassion and unity in the face of adversity.
