The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has called for the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to proactively address the grievances of its members in Oyo State. Emphasizing the need for justice, fairness, and equity within the party, Adelabu highlighted the importance of establishing mechanisms to address internal issues.
During his keynote address at the 74th posthumous birthday event of former governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi, coinciding with the 6th Annual Senator Abiola Ajimobi Roundtable at the University of Ibadan, Adelabu conveyed his sentiments. Notably, the event took place on a Saturday.
It is noteworthy that Adelabu recently rejoined the APC, having previously left to contest the 2023 governorship election under the platform of Accord.
Addressing the gathering, Adelabu stressed the imperative for the APC leadership to proactively tackle the grievances prevalent among its members. He also underscored the absence of a unifying leader within the party in the state at present.
Sharing poignant anecdotes, the minister described Senator Ajimobi as a significant mentor and supporter who had a pivotal role in his political journey. Adelabu recounted how Senator Ajimobi had encouraged him to contest the 2019 governorship election and had been instrumental in his decision to resign from the Deputy Governor position at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“My resignation was not done without him. He was the one that helped me to put the resignation letter together,” Adelabu stated. Reflecting on his political endeavors, he expressed gratitude to Senator Ajimobi, acknowledging the profound impact on his life and career.
“I want the party to put mechanisms in place to address the grievances of the members. This will ensure justice, fairness, and equity in the party,” Adelabu affirmed, encapsulating the essential message of his address.
In conclusion, Adelabu’s call for internal conflict resolution mechanisms within the APC echoes the broader need for fairness and equity, serving as a pivotal message for the party’s leadership to consider as they navigate internal dynamics.
