The Nigerian Ministry of Defence is embarking on a groundbreaking partnership with NEANY, a prominent U.S. military firm, to establish state-of-the-art weapons production facilities at the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). Dr. Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, recently undertook a two-day visit to the company’s headquarters in the United States, signaling a pivotal step towards fostering collaboration in the domain of defense technology and innovation.

The primary focus of this unprecedented collaboration is the establishment of assembly lines dedicated to the production of advanced military equipment, aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s capacity to combat insecurity within its borders. The initiative also seeks to introduce cutting-edge technologies that will amplify the efficacy of the Nigerian military in addressing contemporary security challenges.

NEANY, a distinguished manufacturer of military equipment in the United States, is poised to synergize its expertise with DICON, a Nigerian government entity specializing in the production of military hardware and equipment. This strategic alignment underscores a mutual commitment to fortifying Nigeria’s defense infrastructure and amplifying its proactive response to emergent security threats.

During his visit, Minister Matawalle articulated Nigeria’s unwavering resolve to enhance the capabilities of its armed forces in order to effectively navigate and neutralize evolving security challenges. Emphasizing the significance of his tour of NEANY’s facilities, the minister underscored the invaluable insights gained into cutting-edge military and intelligence hardware capabilities, as well as high-tech equipment harnessed by the U.S. military.

“The comprehensive tour of NEANY’s facilities has equipped me with profound insights into state-of-the-art military and intelligence hardware capabilities, as well as an array of high-tech equipment utilized by the U.S.,” remarked Minister Matawalle. “This initiative signals a pivotal step in nurturing collaboration and integrating cutting-edge military technologies to fortify Nigeria’s defense capabilities. We are resolutely committed to President Bola Tinubu’s vision of modernizing our armed forces to adeptly counter evolving security threats,” he added.

During the visit, the minister explored various cutting-edge facilities, including the company’s Rapid Deployment Mobile RADAR system, Unmanned Water Vehicle, Drone Ground Control Station, and Compact Biometric Search-scan System, among others.

This collaboration between Nigeria and NEANY is poised to chart a new trajectory in fortifying Nigeria’s defense capabilities, underscoring the government’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to safeguard the nation and its citizens.
