Nigerian crooner, Chike, revealed his preference for older women during a recent appearance on the Unpack Podcast, hosted by NAY. In a candid conversation, the 30-year-old singer shared his perspective on relationships, highlighting the importance of communication and emotional maturity.

Chike expressed his belief that older women are better at communication, attributing this to their life experiences. According to him, most women are only able to communicate effectively when they have gained a certain level of maturity. He remarked, “Not a girl of 23 years. Imagine I’m running around with some 23-year-old, what’s she going to handle? What’s she going to understand?” His statement reflected his view that younger women might not share the same level of emotional maturity and life experiences that he seeks in a partner.

The singer’s preference for older women also stems from his desire for a certain level of peace in a relationship. He suggested that older women are able to provide this peace due to their maturity and life perspectives. Chike emphasized, “It’s because as a guy when you are getting to a place where you want a certain level of peace, it’s only older women that can give you that.”

Drawing from his personal experiences, Chike revealed that his past relationships have been with older women, highlighting that he has never been romantically involved with a younger woman. He shared, “There is no small girl that can say I am dating her. I mean, I probably just say ‘Hi’ to them [younger women]. And that’s it. It’s not going to get past that.” This statement emphasized his strong inclination towards relationships with older women.

While Chike’s preference for older women was evident, he also acknowledged that there are exceptions, noting that younger career-oriented women, who are dedicated and driven, can also capture his interest. However, he made it clear that his conversations with younger women are based on a mutual understanding of their divergent life visions.

Chike’s open and honest conversation on the podcast shed light on his unique perspective on relationships, offering a glimpse into his personal preferences and the factors that influence his romantic choices. This insightful discussion provided a rare window into the mindset of a modern Nigerian artist navigating the complexities of love and relationships.
