Tinubu Vows Action in State Crises, Says Presidency

According to the Presidency, President Bola Tinubu will not stay silent and allow crises in states to escalate, following his involvement in the political turmoil in Ondo and Rivers State. Despite claims that Tinubu’s actions were undermining the state governments, his media adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, defended his interventions as necessary. Ngelale emphasized that Tinubu will continue intervening in states grappling with political crises if they have the potential to impact the nation’s stability.

In a statement on Channels Television’s News Night, Ngelale emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to preventing the destabilization of any region, state, or subnational entity that could escalate into a national crisis. He stressed that the President, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, would not stand by and keep quiet if the political crisis evolves into a threat to national security. Ngelale reiterated that the President’s primary objective is to ensure the safety of the Nigerian people in a stable environment without any form of insecurity. Therefore, if a political crisis intensifies and creates man-made insecurity, the President will intervene decisively to protect the citizens.

The Presidency’s firm stance reflects its commitment to maintaining national security and stability, even at the state level. Tinubu’s proactive involvement in state crises underscores the government’s determination to prevent the escalation of political turmoil into wider security threats. As such, the President’s intervention serves as a strategic and wise decision to safeguard the Nigerian people and uphold national stability.
