In a bid to enhance adherence to land rate payments and elevate revenue generation, Nairobi County has prolonged the deadline for waiving penalties. Governor Sakaja Johnson took to social media to communicate the extension, stretching the cutoff date from December 31 to January 31, 2024. The initiative aims to entice property owners to settle their outstanding land rates by offering a 100% waiver on interest and penalties. Sakaja emphasized the significance of seizing this opportunity to regularize property status, cautioning that enforcement measures against defaulters will kick in come February. He advocated for utilizing the county’s sanctioned bank accounts or a USSD code, *647#, for prompt settlements, reiterating the potential consequences of non-compliance, including public auctions and legal recourses to recoup the county’s dues.
