Matawalle Donates Hi-Tech Unmanned Water Vessels to Bolster Nigeria’s Maritime Security

In a significant move to strengthen Nigeria’s maritime security, the Minister of Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, has presented two state-of-the-art unmanned water vessels to President Bola Tinubu. The hi-tech vessels, donated by Swift Ship Company, USA, are set to play a pivotal role in combatting insecurity on the nation’s waterways and beyond.

During the presentation, Matawalle showcased the S2 and S3 Swift Sea Stalkers, highlighting their advanced technology that will be deployed to address security challenges in the Niger Delta, Lake Chad region, and other maritime areas. This development stems from Matawalle’s recent visit to leading American companies, including NEANY, Swift Ships, and OCR Global, all specializing in hi-tech military hardware production.

Furthermore, the minister discussed plans to foster a partnership with US companies for local military hardware production in collaboration with Nigeria’s Defence Industries Corporation. This endeavor not only aligns with Tinubu’s agenda for peace and security but also underscores Nigeria’s commitment to learning innovative approaches in military hardware production.

During his visit, Matawalle inspected a range of cutting-edge military and intelligence hardware, including rapid deployment mobile RADAR systems, drone ground control stations, and compact biometric search-scan systems. He expressed confidence that these capabilities would significantly contribute to Nigeria’s efforts in combating insecurity.

The donation of these hi-tech unmanned water vessels represents a crucial step in Nigeria’s quest to enhance its maritime security infrastructure, reflecting a promising stride towards safeguarding the nation’s waterways and addressing contemporary security challenges.
