In the recently concluded by-election for the Kankara/Faskari/Sabuwa Federal Constituency in Katsina State, Hon. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki from the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged as the winner. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared Tafoki as the victor after he secured a total of 49,807 votes, surpassing the candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Jamilu Lion, who closely trailed with 49,067 votes.

The breakdown of the results by local government areas, as presented by INEC, is as follows:
– Kankara Local Government: APC – 16,758, PDP – 22,360
– Faskari Local Government: APC – 22,711, PDP – 19,347
– Sabuwa Local Government: APC – 10,338, PDP – 7,360

The overall outcome highlights the APC’s dominance, securing a total of 49,807 votes compared to the PDP’s 49,067 votes. This victory solidifies the APC’s position in the region and underscores the party’s continued influence in Katsina State.
