Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe has voiced his concerns over the slow pace of nominating government officials by President Joseph Boakai, likening the process to “too many cooks in the kitchen”. This criticism comes amidst a backdrop of numerous vacancies within the Unity Party-led Government that are yet to be filled.
According to the Liberian constitution, the President holds the exclusive right to nominate individuals for various government positions, including cabinet roles. However, Senator Snowe highlighted what he perceives as factional arrangements and the premature nomination of individuals by political parties aligned with the President.
Expressing discontent, Senator Snowe characterized the government’s formation as a power-sharing arrangement, urging President Boakai and Unity Party supporters to consider his observations seriously. Additionally, he referenced President Boakai’s commitment to ensuring smooth traffic flow within his first hundred days in office, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling such promises to the Liberian people.
