Bovi Holds Peseiro Responsible for Nigeria’s AFCON 2023 Loss

In a dramatic turn of events, popular comedian Bovi has pointed fingers at Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, for the team’s defeat against Cote d’Ivoire in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.
The 2-1 loss to the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire, on Sunday, left Bovi furious, as he took to his X handle to express his discontent with Peseiro’s tactics. He criticized the coach for prioritizing defense over Nigeria’s traditional attacking style, emphasizing that even a victory would not have appeased him.
According to Bovi, “Blame the coach. We are a footballing nation of flare. Fluidity, through passes, dribbles, attack. Not all out defense. Even if we’d won, I would still be pissed. The style was evidently alien to the players.”
These comments reflect the widespread disappointment among Nigerian football enthusiasts and raise questions about the team’s strategy under Peseiro’s leadership.
