Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has taken a significant step in the fight against terrorism and crime by signing the Kaduna State Security Trust Fund Bill into law. This bill aims to provide financial support for efforts to combat terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements.
In a statement on Tuesday, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Shehu, revealed that the new law replaced the Security Trust Fund Law No. 22 of 2018.
Governor Sani emphasized that the legislation would facilitate the raising of funds for acquiring and deploying security equipment, personnel, and materials, as well as providing necessary training. He highlighted the importance of training and retraining security personnel to effectively respond to existing and evolving security threats. Additionally, funds will be allocated to Psychological Operations, with the goal of winning over the hearts and minds of the people.
The governor also disclosed that the private sector will play a significant role in managing the trust fund in collaboration with key stakeholders in the security sector. He stressed that the new law aligns with global best practices and serves as a model for other regions, demonstrating the state government’s commitment to combating criminal elements that have been causing havoc in the state.
Governor Sani urged corporate organizations and individuals with philanthropic inclinations to make generous donations to the security trust fund, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility that requires joint efforts to eradicate the malevolent elements threatening local economies and the livelihoods of the people.
This initiative marks a crucial milestone in the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of Kaduna State, emphasizing the indispensable nature of collaboration between the government, private sector, and citizens in combating crime.
