NDLEA Seizes Large Loud Consignment Concealed in Sound Speakers at Lagos Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a significant interception at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos, Nigeria. A statement from NDLEA director, Femi Babafemi, revealed that a substantial consignment of Loud, a potent strain of synthetic cannabis, was discovered concealed in oversized loudspeakers arriving from New York, USA.

The drug, totaling 33.5 kilograms, was carefully hidden within giant wooden boxes disguised as sound speakers. Following thorough investigations, three individuals involved in the smuggling operation, including a freight agent, a logistics company manager, and the consignment receiver, were apprehended in coordinated operations between February 15 and February 16. The suspects were identified as Akeem Afeez, Babalola Ayodeji, and Taiwo Olusegun, who were arrested at different locations in Lagos.

NDLEA chairman, Buba Marwa, commended the exceptional efforts of the agency’s personnel at the Lagos airport and across the country in intensifying their fight against drug trafficking. The successful interception comes as a testament to the agency’s unwavering commitment to reducing both drug supply and demand through dedicated advocacy efforts.

This development showcases the NDLEA’s relentless pursuit of drug enforcement and its continuous efforts to safeguard communities from the devastating impact of illegal substances.
