Tinubu Takes Action Against Social Vices in Nigerian Universities

President Bola Tinubu has formed a special committee to tackle social vices in Nigerian tertiary institutions. The committee, led by former NYSC D-G Maj.- Gen. Suleiman Kazaure (rtd), aims to combat issues such as drug abuse, sexual harassment, cultism, cybercrime, and academic dishonesty. This effort reflects Tinubu’s commitment to safeguarding Nigerian students’ future and addressing concerns that hinder academic performance and personal development.

The announcement, made by Hon. Sunday Asefon, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, underscores the need for a comprehensive and collaborative approach to address these social vices.

The committee, named the Special Committee for the Eradication of Social Vices in Tertiary Institutions (SESV-TI), comprises stakeholders, renowned educationists, student activists, and patriotic leaders. Maj.- Gen. Suleiman Kazaure (rtd) will serve as the Chairman, with Maxwell Okoye as Secretary, Prof. Jerry Ugokwe, and Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche as members.

President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda emphasizes the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of Nigerian students, reflecting a significant commitment to the nation’s education sector.
