Eedris Abdulkareem: Blackface Shaped 2Face’s Success

Eedris Abdulkareem, a controversial Nigerian singer, recently claimed that his colleague, 2Face (also known as 2Baba), owes much of his career triumphs to his former bandmate, Blackface. Abdulkareem emphasized that Blackface, as the leader of the defunct Plantashun Boiz, was pivotal in propelling 2Baba into the spotlight.

During a guest appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, co-hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel (Nedu), Deity Cole, and Husband Material, Abdulkareem expressed in Pidgin, “Most of the things wey 2face be today, na Blackface make am happen.”

The history behind this statement lies in the fact that Blackface, along with 2Baba (then 2Face) and Faze, were members of the band Plantashun Boiz, whose split led to their individual solo careers. Blackface had previously accused 2Face of causing the band’s demise and even alleged that 2Face plagiarized his hit song, ‘African Queen.’

Abdulkareem’s declaration fuels the ongoing controversies and adds to the complex dynamics of the Nigerian music industry.
