Tributes Pour in for Late Nollywood Star Mr Ibu: Peter Okoye and Shehu Sani Mourn Loss

Award-winning musician and one-half of the popular P-Square music duo, Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, has expressed his sorrow over the passing of Nollywood legend, John Okafor, famously known as Mr Ibu.

Mr Ibu tragically passed away at Evercare Hospital in Lagos State after a long battle with illness. The 62-year-old actor had been struggling with health issues that eventually led to the amputation of both of his legs, stemming from diseased blood vessels.

In a heartfelt tweet from his official account, Peter Okoye paid tribute to the late actor, saying, “Rest well Mr Ibu. We will definitely miss you! #RIP.”

Former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, also shared his condolences, describing Mr Ibu’s death as “sad and unfortunate.” He praised the comic actor for bringing joy and laughter into the lives of many through his unique talent and humour. Sani emphasized that Mr Ibu had been a beloved figure in Nigerian homes for decades, and his passing is a significant loss to both the country and the entertainment industry. He concluded by wishing for Mr Ibu’s soul to rest in peace.
