EFCC Arrests 21 Trucks Loaded with Food and Non Food Items

The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made a significant breakthrough by intercepting 21 trucks loaded with food and non-food items destined for N’djamena, Chad Republic, Central African Republic, and Cameroon. This operation, carried out along major exit routes in Borno state, Nigeria, highlights the ongoing efforts to combat smuggling activities in the region.

According to Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, the trucks were cleverly concealing food items that would have gone undetected if not for the vigilance of the commission’s operatives. The discovery of these hidden goods underscores the importance of maintaining strict border control measures to prevent food insecurity caused by illegal smuggling practices.

The suspects involved in this smuggling operation are currently under investigation and will face charges in court once the inquiry is completed. This decisive action by the EFCC is a crucial step towards curbing illicit activities that threaten the stability of the region.
