Canadian rapper Drake lost a staggering $600,000 bet after Anthony Joshua defeated Francis Ngannou in a highly anticipated heavyweight showdown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Joshua secured a brutal knockout against Ngannou in the second round of the ‘Knockout Chaos’ clash on Friday night.

Known for his penchant for placing massive bets on sporting events, Drake had boldly announced on Instagram that he was betting $615,000 on Ngannou to emerge victorious over Joshua. “Betting on a scary man,” Drake confidently declared.

Despite Drake and several combat sports fans believing in Ngannou’s ability to defeat Joshua, the bet did not go in his favor. If it had, Drake would have pocketed a whopping $1.9 million. This loss adds to Drake’s track record of both big wins and losses in the betting world.

Interestingly, Drake has become associated with the infamous “Drake Curse,” a phenomenon where fans believe that athletes and teams he supports end up facing misfortune. This superstition has affected various individuals and teams, including quarterback Johnny Manziel, UFC fighter Kamaru Usman, tennis star Serena Williams, and the Kentucky Wildcats Basketball team.

In a previous betting mishap, Drake lost over half-a-million pounds when he backed Sean Strickland to defend his UFC middleweight championship against Dricus Du Plessis. However, one of Drake’s successful bets in 2023 was on YouTube boxer Logan Paul to defeat Conor McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis in their Misfits Boxing fight. This victory earned Drake $1.3 million after Danis was disqualified in the final round for attempting to choke Paul unconscious, leading to a chaotic brawl in the ring.

Despite his occasional setbacks, Drake continues to engage in high-stakes betting, with mixed results. Whether he’s rooting for a knockout in a boxing match or a title defense in the UFC, Drake’s betting adventures always keep fans on the edge of their seats.
