Workers at Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company have taken a stand against alleged injustices and industrial disputes, leading to a withdrawal of their services. Ayuba Pukat, the Organising Secretary of NUEE in the North West, highlighted the dire situation faced by the workers. He emphasized the non-remittance of pension funds, leading to financial hardships for employees. Additionally, he condemned the unjust dismissal of staff members in Zaria without due process.
Despite the workers’ protests, the Head of Corporate Communications at Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, expressed disappointment at the strike, labeling it as unnecessary and harmful to the company’s operations. He urged the workers to reconsider their actions and allow business activities to resume smoothly.
In the midst of this turmoil, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) recently appointed Dr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu as the administrator of KAEDC, signaling a potential shift in leadership and management strategies.
