Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu has taken on the role of Director of Naval Information and official Spokesperson for the Nigerian Navy, as confirmed by Rear Admiral J D Akpan, the Admiral Chief of Policy and Plans. This appointment, approved by Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, marks a significant transition in the Nigerian Navy’s communication strategy.

Adams-Aliu, born on December 15, 1977, in Lagos, comes from a family with a strong journalistic background. His father, Sir Adams-Aliu, a veteran journalist, instilled in him a passion for public speaking and media relations from a young age. After completing his education at Shepherd Hill Primary School, Kings College, Lagos, and the Nigerian Defence Academy, Adams-Aliu embarked on a distinguished naval career.

Throughout his tenure, Adams-Aliu has served in various capacities, including as a Watch Keeping Officer on Nigerian Navy Ships, a military observer in the United Nations Mission in Liberia, and the Commanding Officer of Nigerian Navy Ship KARADUWA. His extensive training, including courses at the United States Army Infantry School and the Naval War College in Nigeria and the United States, has equipped him for his current role.

Adams-Aliu’s career has been marked by excellence, earning him awards such as the Passed Staff Course, Meritorious Service Star, and the Distinguished Fellow of the Naval War College. He is also actively involved in professional organizations such as the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, and the United States Naval Institute.

In addition to his professional achievements, Adams-Aliu is a devoted family man, happily married to Dr. Loretta, with whom he shares three children. His dedication to both his career and his family exemplifies his commitment to service and leadership.

As the new Director of Naval Information, Adams-Aliu’s wealth of experience and expertise positions him to effectively communicate the Nigerian Navy’s mission and activities to a global audience. His appointment heralds a new chapter in the Nigerian Navy’s public relations efforts, ensuring transparency and engagement with stakeholders both at home and abroad.
