Cross River State Commissioner Unveils Energy Strategy to Boost Economy

In a bid to counter the effects of dwindling oil revenues, the Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy in Cross River State, Eka Wills, has unveiled a strategic shift towards alternative sources of energy generation. Speaking at an energy workshop in Calabar, Wills emphasized the pivotal role of energy in revitalizing the state’s economy.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Wills acknowledged the decline in petroleum production capacity and prices as key drivers for the state’s reevaluation of its energy strategy. He stressed the need for quick-win initiatives to attract investments in both conventional and alternative energy sources to fund development projects.

Calling upon industry stakeholders, energy experts, and consultants, Wills urged for collaborative efforts to harness the state’s abundant energy resources for economic growth. Consultant Adie Mac Monkom echoed this sentiment, underscoring the benefits of renewable energy in paving the way for a sustainable future. Monkom emphasized the transformative potential of sustainable energy solutions, emphasizing the collective responsibility to redefine the global energy landscape.

As Cross River State embarks on this journey towards energy sustainability, the stage is set for a paradigm shift in power generation and economic development. With a shared vision and unwavering commitment, the state is poised to lead the way in powering a brighter, greener future for all.
