The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has raised concerns over the alleged mismanagement of funds at the Cement Technology Institute of Nigeria (CTIN). NAPS president, Muniru Opeyemi, led a group of students in a protest to demand accountability from the CTIN management and Board of Trustees.

The students submitted a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, urging for a thorough investigation into the alleged diversion of N20 billion meant for student training and development at CTIN.

“We demand transparency and justice. The CTIN leadership must be held accountable for the misuse of over N20 billion in intervention funds that were intended for technical training purposes,” Opeyemi stated.

The funds were reportedly collected as levies on imported cement over a decade ago when Nigeria was still importing cement. The students are calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the mismanagement of funds.

The EFCC has assured NAPS that they will investigate the matter and take appropriate action. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
