Prioritize Data Backup: NITDA Advises Nigerians on World Backup Day

In commemoration of World Backup Day, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has urged Nigerians to prioritize data backup to prevent information loss. Hadiza Umar, Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations at the agency, emphasized the importance of copying information from a primary to a secondary location to safeguard it from disasters, accidents, or malicious actions.

Data backup involves creating a duplicate of vital information, storing it securely in a separate location, and recognizing it as a restoration method. Umar stressed that data is more valuable than devices and advised implementing a backup strategy consistently, not just on World Backup Day.

By backing up data, individuals can stay ahead of cyber threats that may lead to data loss. Umar outlined backup rules, including maintaining at least three copies of data, storing them on two different storage media, and keeping one copy offsite or in the cloud.

World Backup Day, observed annually on March 31, serves as a reminder of the significance of safeguarding data and ensuring the security of systems and computers. Join the global tech industry in celebrating this day and take proactive steps to protect your valuable information.
