Nathaniel Bassey Petitions IGP Over Paternity Rumour by Social Media Users

Nathaniel Bassey, a renowned gospel music minister, recently found himself embroiled in a scandalous paternity rumor that shook the online community. The controversy began when four social media users, namely Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, Terrence Ekot, and Dj Spoiltkid, insinuated that Bassey was the biological father of a fellow gospel singer’s son.

In response to these damaging allegations, Bassey took swift legal action by filing a petition through his legal team on April 1, 2024. The lawyers, Peter Abraham, Uche Matthew, Gbenga Agunloye, and Anthony Abia, urged the police authorities to investigate the matter and hold the perpetrators accountable for their defamatory actions.

The scandal escalated as photos of Bassey and the toddler in question circulated online, fueling the rumor mill and tarnishing Bassey’s reputation. The lawyers emphasized that such baseless accusations not only harm Bassey’s image but also violate criminal codes and cybercrime laws.

The petition highlighted the gravity of the situation, emphasizing the long-lasting impact of false statements on social media. It called for swift justice to prevent further damage to Bassey’s reputation and to set a precedent for deterring similar malicious behavior in the future.

As an international audience, it is crucial to recognize the importance of upholding individuals’ reputations and the consequences of spreading false information online. The petition serves as a reminder of the power of social media and the need for accountability in the digital age.
