Katsina Police Dismisses False Stampede Reports During Palliative Distribution

The Katsina State Police Command has debunked rumors circulating on social media about eight people dying in a stampede during the distribution of palliatives. In a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, it was clarified that no such incident occurred.

The misinformation claimed that the deaths occurred during a distribution of alms and palliatives by former gubernatorial candidate Sen. Yakubu Lado-Danmarke at GRA Katsina on April 3, 2024. However, after a thorough investigation, it was confirmed that the venue was overcrowded, causing congestion but no fatalities.

The Police Commissioner, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, emphasized the importance of relying on credible sources for accurate information and cautioned against spreading unverified news on social media. The command assured the public of their commitment to providing transparent updates on matters of public safety and security.

It is crucial to verify information before sharing it, especially on social media platforms, to maintain peace and harmony in the state. Let’s prioritize accuracy and rely on official statements for reliable information.
