Governor Ododo: Arrests Made in Connection with Bandit Killings

Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State made a significant announcement on Wednesday regarding the recent tragic events in the Agojeju-Odo and Abejukolo communities in Omala Local Government Area. These communities were attacked by suspected herdsmen on April 4, resulting in the loss of 25 lives and leaving many others injured.

Governor Ododo revealed that authorities have apprehended several suspects in connection with the killings, and investigations are currently underway. He emphasized the longstanding nature of the crisis in Omala Local Government Area and assured the public that efforts are being made to restore peace in the region.

Expressing his condolences to the families of the victims, Governor Ododo reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting those affected by the violence. He also urged the Muslim community in the state to uphold the values of kindness, generosity, love, and understanding as they mark the end of Ramadan.

Chief David Akpa, the District Head of Omala, confirmed the burial of the 25 individuals who lost their lives in the attack, including women and children. He condemned the brutal nature of the assault and called for assistance from both federal and state governments to aid the displaced victims seeking refuge in other communities.

The traditional ruler emphasized that the community had never experienced such violence before and appealed for swift action to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents. The tragic incident has left the community in mourning and in need of support during this challenging time.
