US and UK Urged to Mediate for Peace in the Middle East Amid Israeli-Iranian Conflict

In a recent statement, Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, has called upon the United States of America and the United Kingdom to take responsibility for maintaining peace in the Middle East. Onanuga emphasized the importance of ensuring that the Israeli response to Iranian drones and missiles remains proportionate in the ongoing conflict.

Speaking from his personal perspective, Onanuga expressed concerns about the escalating tensions in the region following Iran’s retaliatory air attack on Israel, which was prompted by an earlier Israeli strike on its consulate in Syria. Despite Israel’s successful defense against the Iranian assault with the assistance of the U.S. military and other allies, Onanuga warned that the situation could worsen if not addressed promptly.

Highlighting the potential for the conflict to spiral out of control, Onanuga urged the UK and the US to intervene and mediate between the warring parties. He stressed the need for caution and diplomacy, particularly in light of the unresolved issues in Gaza, emphasizing that the world cannot afford another devastating war in the Middle East.

As tensions continue to simmer, with threats of further retaliation and escalating military actions, the international community must step in to prevent a full-blown crisis. The call for peace and dialogue resonates strongly in a region plagued by conflict and instability, underscoring the urgent need for diplomatic intervention to avert a catastrophic escalation of violence.
