Federal Government Begins Disbursement of N50,000 Grants to Nanobusinesses

The Federal Government has officially kicked off the distribution process for the Presidential Conditional Grant scheme, targeting nanobusinesses in Nigeria. These small enterprises, with one or two employees and an annual turnover of less than N3 million, are set to receive a grant of N50,000 each.

In a recent announcement by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, it was stated that the disbursement process has begun, with some beneficiaries already receiving their grants. This marks the start of a phased approach to distributing the grants.

The ministry also addressed initial delays in the verification process, noting that they have worked with telecommunications providers to resolve issues with sending out verification codes for the National Identification Number (NIN) and application continuation.

By Friday, 19th April 2024, a significant number of verified applicants are expected to receive their grants. However, it is important to note that the disbursements will be ongoing, and not all applicants will receive their grants on the initial date.

The Presidential Conditional Grant Programme was introduced last year to help ease the economic impact of the removal of fuel subsidies in Nigeria. The program aims to support one million small businesses across the 774 local government areas and six council areas in the Federal Capital Territory.

This initiative is a crucial step towards providing much-needed assistance to small businesses in Nigeria, helping them navigate economic challenges and thrive in a competitive market.
