The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been embroiled in a political drama surrounding the suspension of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as the national chairman. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, made it clear that the party will not honor the initial court order affirming Ganduje’s suspension. Morka emphasized that Ganduje has not been served any summon regarding the suspension and that the party is standing behind a recent ruling from the Kano Federal High Court calling for a stay of the order.
The situation in Kano took a new turn when a Federal High Court, presided over by Justice A.M Liman, halted Ganduje’s suspension by his ward executives in Dawakin Tofa Local Government area. This ruling came after Ganduje filed a motion seeking to enforce his right to a fair hearing, with the respondents including the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and nine other individuals.
Morka argued that the initial court order was problematic because the plaintiffs behind the suspension were not recognized members of the party. He also criticized the judge for upholding the suspension on an ex parte application, which he believed was not in line with legal procedures.
As of now, the party has not been officially served with the order affirming Ganduje’s suspension, and Morka stated that they are in a status quo where Ganduje remains the national chairman. The party is abiding by the recent Federal Court order restraining the plaintiffs from enforcing the suspension.
The unfolding events in Kano have captured the attention of many, with the future of the APC leadership hanging in the balance. Stay tuned for further developments as the political saga continues to unfold.
