Two lives lost and one injured in a tragic accident on the Ilaro-Owode Yewa road

Tragedy struck on Friday morning at the Idogo Junction on the Ilaro-Owode Yewa road, as two individuals lost their lives and another was injured in a devastating accident. The collision involved a speeding Mitsubishi car with the license plate JJJ168JF and a truck registered as T12224LA.

Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the state Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement released to the press. According to Okpe, the Mitsubishi car was believed to be traveling at an excessive speed when it collided with the truck that was improperly parked on the road.

The FRSC Ilaro Unit Command swiftly responded to the scene and conducted a rescue operation. The injured victim and the deceased were promptly transported to General Hospital and Hosanna Hospital in Ilaro for further treatment and identification.

The statement from Okpe highlighted the details of the crash, stating, “A total of seven individuals were involved in the accident, consisting of four male adults and three female adults. Tragically, one female sustained injuries, while two male adults lost their lives. The primary causes of the crash were identified as obstruction and speed violation.”

In response to the incident, Okpe issued a stern warning that the FRSC would crack down on motorists who park indiscriminately on the road. Additionally, Anthony Uga, the Ogun Sector Commander of the FRSC, expressed his dismay at the prevalent practice of vehicles being haphazardly parked along the roadside. He instructed the Corps’ Marshall to conduct regular checks on indiscriminate parking and enforce strict penalties on offenders.

Uga emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits and respecting road regulations to prevent such tragic accidents from reoccurring. It serves as a sobering reminder for all motorists to prioritize safety and responsible driving practices on the roads.
