Governor Oborevwori Assures Safe Return of Okuama Indigenes After Tragic Incident

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, along with Commander 63 Brigade, Brig. Gen. Unachukwu Ugochukwu, and other government officials, recently visited Okuama to address the ongoing crisis in the community. The governor emphasized the importance of innocent citizens not being punished for crimes they did not commit.

In a press briefing at Okuama, Governor Oborevwori expressed his commitment to restoring peace and security in the region following the tragic killing of 17 officers and soldiers on March 14. He reassured the residents that those responsible for the heinous act would be brought to justice through due process.

Acknowledging the pain and loss experienced by the community, Governor Oborevwori highlighted the collaborative efforts between the government and the military to facilitate the safe return of displaced individuals to Okuama. He commended the support received from President Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Chief of Defence Staff in ensuring that innocent civilians are protected.

Governor Oborevwori urged the residents of Okuama not to fear returning to their homes, emphasizing that only those involved in the criminal activities are being pursued by the authorities. He assured the community that measures are being taken to reintegrate them back into their normal lives.

As the government continues to work towards resolving the conflict in Okuama, Governor Oborevwori reiterated his commitment to upholding peace and security in Delta State.
