Blackface Expresses Concern Over Imported Garri from China, Questions Nigerian Farmers

Nigerian veteran singer, Blackface, has voiced his concern over a trending picture of a bag of Garri reportedly imported from China. The musician, whose real name is Ahmedu Augustine, took to his official Instagram page to share the image and question the absence of Nigerian farmers in the production of such basic food items.

With a sad face emoji accompanying the post, Blackface expressed his disappointment, stating that the importation of essential foodstuff is not a positive reflection on Nigeria.

The image shared by Blackface showed a sack of Garri with the label “TRS Asia’s finest foods,” indicating its origin from Asia. The spelling of Garri as “Gari” on the sack further suggests its foreign production.

Reacting to the situation, Blackface called on Nigerian farmers, emphasizing the need for self-sufficiency in food production. He highlighted the significance of supporting local agriculture and expressed his dismay at the reliance on imported goods.

Social media users echoed Blackface’s sentiments, expressing concern over the importation of basic food items and urging the government to prioritize agricultural development to ensure food security in the country.
