Ogun State Police Arrest Woman for Trafficking Teenage Student to Libya

News Report: In a disturbing case of human trafficking, the Ogun State Police have arrested Abike Olonade for her involvement in the trafficking of a 16-year-old student to Libya. The victim, whose identity remains protected, is a student at Adeoye Lambo Secondary School located in Obada Oko, within the Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The arrest was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, who issued a statement from Abeokuta on Saturday. According to Odutola, Olonade has admitted to her crime, stating that the victim has indeed been trafficked to Libya.

This case highlights the ongoing issue of human trafficking in Nigeria, where vulnerable individuals, particularly youths, are lured with promises of better opportunities abroad but often end up in exploitative situations. The Ogun State Police’s swift action in this case demonstrates their commitment to combating such criminal activities and protecting the rights and safety of the state’s citizens.
