Wike Aims for FCT-Rwanda, Sweden Partnerships

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed a strong interest in collaborating with Rwanda and Sweden for the economic development of the FCT. He conveyed this during meetings with the Rwandan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Christophe Bazivamo, and the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Annika Hahn-Englund, on separate visits to the FCT Administration on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

Wike emphasized the significance of cooperation between the FCT and Kigali, Rwanda’s capital, particularly in waste management. He also expressed eagerness to work with Swedish investors in the telecommunications and transportation sectors.

Acknowledging President Bola Tinubu’s support for making the city safe and attractive for foreign investors and missions, Wike thanked both envoys for recognizing the improved security and rapid infrastructure development in the FCT. He assured them of continued collaboration and support, highlighting the importance of maintaining a cordial relationship and prioritizing security to facilitate governance and business activities.

The Rwandan High Commissioner, Christophe Bazivamo, expressed a desire for further cooperation between Kigali and the Nigerian capital in environmental management and infrastructure development, praising the rapid changes and improvements in the FCT. Similarly, the Swedish Ambassador, Annika Hahn-Englund, expressed her country’s intention to strengthen its longstanding bilateral relationship with Nigeria.
