NEW YORK – In a significant shift within the music industry, Scooter Braun, renowned for managing top artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, has announced his departure from music management.
Braun revealed his decision on Instagram, stating he will now concentrate on his roles as a board member of Hybe and CEO of Hybe America, a major South Korean entertainment company.
This move comes after a year filled with speculation regarding Braun’s management of his high-profile clients.
“After 23 years, my journey as a music manager concludes,” Braun shared. “Starting at 19, I’ve dedicated my adult life to this role, available 24/7. But as my children grew and personal challenges arose, it was time for change.”
Braun reflected on the impact his clients have had on his life and expressed ongoing support for their careers.
He listed several artists he’s worked with over the years, including Grande, Bieber, Andrew Watt, Lil Dicky, Tori Kelly, J Balvin, Demi Lovato, Zac Brown Band, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Steve Angello, Carly Rae Jepsen, PSY, and Quavo.
Recent reports indicated changes in management for Grande and rumors of Bieber parting ways with Braun. Representatives from Hybe clarified that while Grande no longer has Braun as her manager, their business partnership continues.
Speculation about Braun’s focus shifting from artist management to Hybe America has been rife until his recent confirmation.
Braun emphasized his silence was an attempt to maintain professionalism but acknowledged it may have caused confusion about his business direction.
Hybe representatives redirected inquiries to Braun’s statement which outlines his future ambitions with the company and Big Machine Records—a label he acquired in 2019 which includes Taylor Swift’s early catalog. Swift’s response to the acquisition was to re-record her albums to regain control over her masters.
