Grammy Winner Tems to Launch Women’s Football Team, Aiming to Boost Nigerian Women’s League

Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer Tems has revealed her plans to establish a women’s football team. Speaking on her YouTube podcast, Tems shared her passion for sports and her aspiration to support women’s football in Nigeria.

“I love sports. I love sports, but if I could play football, I would. I’m like a football fan,” she said.

Tems expressed her vision for creating a female football team and organising local tournaments. “I think it is something that is needed. Like, why can’t we just have something like a local tournament with the girls? I feel like it would be fun.”

She also highlighted that the team would participate in regional competitions, believing this would significantly benefit the Nigerian women’s league.

Tems gained widespread recognition in 2020 with the hit song ‘Essence,’ a collaboration with Wizkid. The remix featuring Justin Bieber earned her a Grammy nomination, solidifying her status in the global music scene.
