Nigeria’s President Tinubu Appoints Special Assistants to Drive Agricultural and Senate Matters
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of two special assistants to drive key sectors of the country’s economy and government operations. Mr. Idris Ajimobi has been appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Livestock Development, while Senator Bashir Mohammed has been named the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Ajimobi’s appointment follows the recent inauguration of the Presidential Committee on Implementation of Livestock Reforms and the establishment of a new Ministry of Livestock Development. Ngelale stated that President Tinubu seeks to "harness and develop Nigeria’s agricultural potential, including the animal husbandry ecosystem, to spur sustainable economic growth, create industries and jobs, and eradicate violent conflicts between farmers and herders over time."
Ngelale added that President Tinubu expects efficient coordination and liaison on matters relating to the livestock sector.
In a separate development, Senator Bashir Mohammed has been appointed as the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters. The President described Mohammed as an experienced politician and businessman from Kano State. Mohammed is a former Senator representing Kano Central and former Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons. Ngelale said President Tinubu expects that the new Special Adviser on Senate Matters will deploy his immense experience for enhanced synergy between the Executive and the Legislature and for improved government performance.
