Nigerian Idol Season 9 Winner, Chima, Crowned Champion

In a thrilling finale, Nigerian Idol Season 9 winner, Chima, was crowned the champion of the competition. The finale episode saw the top 10 contestants take to the stage to perform John Legend’s “Glory”, followed by the winners’ performances.

Chima, known for his onstage charisma and vocal dexterity, left the judges – 9ice, Omawumi, and Ric Hassani – speechless with every performance. The judges praised his ability to showcase his vocal prowess and inspire others through his music.

During the finale performances, Omawumi pointed out that Chima was in a competition with himself, highlighting his growth and capabilities beyond the competition. Chima, who specialises in jazz and soul music, revealed at the beginning of the show that he hopes to showcase not only his vocal prowess but also use the Nigerian Idol platform to inspire others.

In his speech at the finale, Dr Busola Tejumola, Executive Head, Content & Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, commended Chima for emerging winner, highlighting the resilience it took for him to get to this spot.

As the winner, Chima was presented with a cash prize of ₦30 million, a brand new SUV, DStv Explora plus a one year premium subscription, and a music deal along with a music video.

The finale episode also featured performances from guest artists such as Simi, Chike, and Victory Gbakara, Nigerian Idol Season 8 winner. Progress, Nigerian Idol Season 7 winner, performed alongside the Bigi Idol winner.

The Nigerian Idol Season 9 finale was a night to remember, with Chima’s coronation as the winner being the highlight of the evening.
