Nigerian Doctor and Artist Sets New Guinness World Record for Largest Drawing by an Individual

Lagos, Nigeria – In a remarkable achievement, Nigerian doctor and hyper-realism artist Fola David has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest drawing by an individual. David’s ambitious project aimed to cover 1000 square meters of art that showcases Nigeria’s diverse cultures. The six-day attempt began on July 16 at Onikan Stadium, with David making steady progress towards his goal.

As of Friday night, David’s team had already broken the current record of 629.98 square meters, with a total of 689 square meters of canvas covered in drawings. David expressed his excitement on social media, saying, “Congratulations to us all. We are not done yet! As the goal is to get over 1000 square meters of canvas covered in drawings; we are currently at 689 square meters. Let’s Go!”

David’s impressive artwork has attracted notable visitors, including the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi; former GWR holder Hilda Baci; and Farooq Oreagba, the businessman who stole the show at the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival. The management of the College of Medicine University of Lagos, where David is an alumnus, also visited him to show their support.
