Social Democratic Party Dissolves Kogi State Working Committee, Appoints Caretaker Committee

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has taken a significant step in its internal affairs by dissolving the Kogi State working committee and appointing a caretaker committee to run the party’s affairs for the next 90 days.

According to a letter signed by the Chairman and National Secretary of the party, Ibrahim Gabam and Dr Olu Agunloye respectively, the national working committee (NWC) of the SDP received and considered the report of the activities of the Kogi state working committee and has accordingly dissolved the state working committee in line with the 2022 Constitution of the party as amended.

The caretaker committee, which will be headed by Chief Sam Ranti Abenemi, will be responsible for overseeing the party’s activities in Kogi State during the 90-day period. The committee’s composition includes Alhaji Jimoh Mohammed as Secretary, Mrs Rabi Emaiku, Alhaji Abubakar Karmar, Alhaji Sheik Ibrahim Jubril, and Mr Fehinti Dada as members.

The letter, which was addressed to the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), informed the INEC chairman that the Kogi state working committee has been dissolved and replaced by a caretaker committee under the Chairmanship of Chief Sam Ranti Abenemi as per the provision of the SDP Constitution.

The tenure of the caretaker committee will be 90 days or as may be deemed fit by the NWC, and the appointment will take immediate effect.

The development is seen as a significant move by the SDP to reorganize its affairs in Kogi State and ensure the party’s continued growth and development in the region.
