Former Governor Warns Against Nationwide Protest, Calls for Reorganization
In a press conference held in Jalingo, former Taraba State governor Jolly T. Nyame has urged the youths of the Yorro nation in both Taraba and Adamawa States to distance themselves from a forthcoming nationwide protest scheduled for August 1, 2024. The protest, planned under the guise of advocating for good governance, is deemed uncalled for by Nyame.
Nyame, flanked by representatives of the Yorro nation from the two states, expressed concern that the language employed by the protest planners is threatening, divisive, and aimed at removing a democratically elected government. He warned that the protest would only worsen the situation and endanger the lives of thousands of people.
Instead of embarking on protest, Nyame called for re-planning and reorganization of political interest in both Taraba and Adamawa states. He emphasized that there is already a constitutional means of removing a bad government through the ballot box, rather than resorting to brigandage and terrorism.
Nyame also acknowledged that there is hunger in the country, but believes that no amount of protest would address the situation. He urged the Yorro nation to prioritize their safety and well-being, rather than participating in a protest that could lead to destruction and chaos.
The former governor acknowledged that the country is facing one of its toughest challenges in history, with a glaring shortage of basic necessities such as food, education, and healthcare. He expressed sympathy for families who are struggling to access these essentials, and called for a more constructive approach to addressing the country’s problems.
Nyame’s message is clear: the Yorro nation should not join the nationwide protest against the government, but rather work towards a peaceful and law-abiding solution to the country’s challenges.
