Erica Ash, Actress and Comedian, Passes Away at 46
The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of talented actress, singer, and comedian Erica Ash, who has passed away at the age of 46. Ash was best known for her roles in TV shows such as “Survivor’s Remorse” and “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” as well as her appearances in numerous films.
The news of Ash’s passing was confirmed by editor and host Roland S. Martin, who posted a tribute to her on Instagram. “It saddens me to confirm that our beloved sister @TheEricaAsh is now an ancestor. She was 46. Erica was an amazing talented, funny, and serious actress,” he wrote. “I adored her.”
Martin also noted that Ash would have been heavily involved in supporting VP Kamala Harris in her upcoming 2024 presidential selection. “She was serious about politics and would have been one of @KamalaHarris biggest supporters. Pray for her family,” he concluded.
Ash got her start in the entertainment industry after landing multiple job opportunities on Broadway, including “The Lion King.” During that time, she was also a cast member on “The Big Gay Sketch Show” for two seasons. In 2008, she joined “MadTV,” a popular sketch comedy show, where she remained on the cast through the show’s 14th and final season on FOX.
Throughout her lengthy career, the Emory University alum would secure roles in a plethora of movies that showed off her range, such as “Scary Movie 5” (2013), “Jean of the Joneses” (2016), “Uncle Drew” (2018), and “Outlaw Johnny Black” (2023), among many others.
Reactions from fans and colleagues to the unfortunate news have started rolling in. A top comment under BET’s post about the death reads, “Brokenhearted over this news. Erica was brilliant on RHOH as is the rest of the RHOH family. Your work on the show was brilliant, you crushed the character of Bridgette. May you be seated at the right hand of your maker and bask in eternal glory. May you be smiling bright upon your family.”
David Swift, Ash’s agent, also shared some words about her passing. “Erica Ash, a radiant star, whose smile and laughter illuminated our world, has tragically left us,” he wrote. “Through her immense talent, she gifted us with countless moments of joy and laughter – on television, stage, or film. Her spirit was infectious, and her ability to connect with audiences was unparalleled.”
He continued, reflecting on the first time they met, “From the moment she walked into my office, draped in that unforgettable coat, I knew we were destined to be friends. Working together was never a chore; her enthusiasm made every challenge a shared adventure. Erica was not just a client, but was a friend… and I will forever cherish the memories of our time together. Your light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear friend.”
