Clergyman Urges President Not to Push Nigerians to the Wall: “Hunger is Like Death to Many”

According to sources, a Christian cleric, Pastor Adewale Giwa of Awaiting the Second Coming of Christ Ministry, has warned against pushing the Nigerian people to extreme measures in the face of socio-economic difficulties. The warning has received widespread attention amid growing concerns among citizens and experts alike.

Perched in the midst of protests triggered by the deteriorating conditions, a desperate people, and economic tribulations, the senior pastor in a recent press interview called the attention of the Nigerian government, specifically pointing to President Bola Tinubu, to redress the plight that has reached a critical dimension.

Pastor Giwa implored President Tinubu to stop assuaging protesters by recommending patience when, according to him, urgent action is necessary and long overdue. The clergy maintained that in a nation tormented by want and hunger, words about patience cannot provide succour. Instead, drastic measures to mitigate distress are more effective in finding a solution to the problem.

It does not require any prophetics to guess the plight of those enduring the extreme conditions of hardship – a time when every shilling earned is like holding onto water. As Giwa succinctly put it:

“A hungry man is not afraid of death; the president should urgently do what is right to make Nigerians happy.”

This outburst echoes the growing disgruntlement and anxiety amidst the Nigerian masses, as well-worn clothes and the smell of fuel become indistinguishable aspects of the quotidian.

Faced with a seemingly unaddressable crisis of an ailing education system, where a significant subset of the country’s most populous age-group are ill-equipped – or worst, under-accommodated – it also appears crucial for authorities that have sworn to protect and guard the welfare of all citizens to come more closely.

As we now face these realities and look upwards, it does seem time will tell – but Pastor Adewale Giwa continues to warn: “If people truly love President Tinubu as they claim, then they would tell the commander-in-chief the truth. Please, he should do more than telling people to be patient in this regard.”

A hopeful sign appears as a prayer flows from this pastor, which bears witness to Nigeria’s troubled current state.

In summary: Christian cleric urges President Bola Tinubu to address socio-economic challenges.
