Controversy Surrounds Kenneth Okonkwo’s Remarks on Nigerian Protest Movement
In a recent interview with Channels Television, Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo made a number of remarks that have stirred controversy. The video clip, posted by artiste Charly Boy on his Instagram, sees the actor express his thoughts on the current protests gripping Nigeria.
Okonkwo praised the movement, stating that he agrees with its stance. He also added his voice to the growing chorus of concerns surrounding the APC government’s policies. According to him, the country has reached a critical point, where hunger, hardship, and deprivation have led people to protest in desperation.
While many may find his opinions supportive and resonant with their own sentiments, Charly Boy himself echoed similar sentiments. In his post, Charly Boy praised Okonkwo for his words and questioned the sincerity of the APC government’s policies.
He wrote in the caption, "Well said, my brother Kenneth👍🏾I twale for U. Nobody can give what they don’t have. If it didn’t dey, e no dey. APC never came to solve people’s problems, they forced themselves on us so dey can build their private EMPIRES on the masses back."
In the post, Charly Boy added a call to the youth of Nigeria, stating that a strong leader must be overthrown to ensure peace in the nation.
According to Charly Boy, toxic leadership can only thrive when those in power control their citizens through manipulation. He urged young people to unite and dismantle what he describes as a "mafia-like" regime.
"Leaders with toxic behaviors only thrive in controlling people, not inspiring them. They have taken it by force and intend to lord it over us by force. Nigerian youths, this mafia must be dismantled or there will never be peace in our land. Nonsense! Dia fathers," Charly Boy wrote.
The issue continues to stir debate as Okonkwo’s words offer both insight and inspiration to those taking to the streets in protest.
